The northern coast of Ohio is ideal for growing grapes, due in part to the Lake Erie winds, favourable climate and fertile soil. The region has been blessed with a unique lakeshore climate and rich soil, providing vintners with a unique combination of grape growing that cannot be found elsewhere in North America. Many of the local wineries have been family owned for generations, and they have mastered the art of producing wine in a seasonally cool climate. The fresh water of the Great Lakes and the rich soils of its coast, combined with the beautiful spring and summer weather of Northern Ohio, gives Port Clinton wines a fresh, flavorful and wholly unique flavour.
